Welcome, Mike Clairmont!

Welcome, Mike Clairmont!

DSB is proud to officially welcome its newest cast member, Bassist Mike Clairmont. Mike has been a dear friend of DSB for years and has joined DSB on multiple shows and tours.

“Aside from his obvious talent and exceptional musicianship, Mike is the nicest guy," explains DSB Founder and Lead Singer, Juan Del Castillo.

"In an industry with sudden change, we knew early on Mike would be the constant we were searching for. In a band, personal chemistry is even more important than musical chemistry. We are thrilled to welcome Mike and are excited about the future of DSB,” Juan adds.

DSB is poised for another busy Summer. The 2023 "Summer Things" tour officially kicks off this weekend in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Over the next couple of months, DSB will be headlining over 30 concerts in the mountains, and desert, and aboard some of the world's largest vessels on the open sea.

“Playing in DSB has been a challenge and an honor… the duty of re-creating the music of one of the best rock bands of our time, while giving in to the joy I have on stage with these brothers of mine, is like no other," expresses DSB newcomer, Mike Clairmont.

Welcome, Mike. Let the DSB journey continue!

ABOUT MIKE CLAIRMONT

Mike's musical world began at age six in Vienna, Virginia, with ear training and classical piano. Shortly after he discovered his true voice on the electric bass and guitar, starting bands with his friends. While earning a Business degree from Radford University, he continued to perform all over the Southeast.  After college, Mike developed a passion for audio production, interning at David Lowery's (Cracker) Sound of Music Recording in Richmond, VA, & soon after relocated to San Diego, CA, where he was offered an internship at the renowned Studio West (formerly Signature Sound).

Spending lots of time in the studio allowed him to meet many great musicians and he was soon playing bass full-time in the SoCal music scene. Shortly after, Mike began studying jazz with Berklee College of Music alum/fretless bass virtuoso, David Hilton. Mike soon applied to Berklee, was awarded a Berklee Achievement Scholarship, and earned a BA in electric and acoustic bass performance, a life-long dream of his. He had the pleasure of learning from many amazing teachers, including Bruce Gertz, Lincoln Goines, Oscar Stagnaro, & Brazilian artist-in-residence, Filó Machado, in styles ranging from jazz, Latin (Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Caribbean), funk, R&B/soul, rock/pop, etc...

After graduation, Mike spent two years in New York City, staying busy touring the country with NYC rock band Turbine, and internationally with singer/songwriter Lipbone Reading, while continuing to freelance as a session player and sideman. In 2014 Mike made the jump back to the West Coast, where he is based in LA, having had the opportunity to tour Europe with Brian Auger's Oblivion Express featuring Alex Ligertwood (Santana) and Jim Mullen (Average White Band, Kokomo), touring the U.S. with The English Beat and The Walcotts, the legendary Siavash Ghomayshi, two NAMM demos with his hero Stevie Wonder (!!), and always maintaining a steady recording and gig schedule. He is most recently a full-time member of the renowned Journey tribute show - DSB. Other interests include surfing, enjoying wine & spicy ethnic foods, and collecting classic vinyl.

  • Mike, Last night I attended a “concert” held at Palmia in Mission Viejo, Ca. Journey tribute band DSB. I’m 85 and totally enjoyed the songs I heard so much as my two sons were Big Journey fans back in the 70’s and 80’s.

You are all great, Juan’s voice is like honey. Jay was my favorite
Personality, and lead guitarist and your Drummer I spoke to after was so sweet young man and your key board player is great and handsome as Juan said. It was a great time and all of us “old guys” had a ball.
Thanks to all of you, Carol
